Friends of Flinders #6

Melbourne man, Dad and jack of all trades, Shura shares his multi faceted career journey.

Hey Shura thanks for being a Friend of Flinders, what do you do?

I'm the Media and Marketing Manager at WHITEFOX Real Estate and I'm also an MC, host and marriage celebrant.

Where do you call home?

I reside in Malvern, Victoria with my wife and two kids.

What’s your favourite local?

Love a bagel from Stan's in Malvern, but I'm fairly simple and just love a trip to Malvern Central shopping centre with the kids to grab a quick oat latte from Rozzis, a coffee scroll from Baker's Delight and I'm a happy boy.

What’s your favourite Australian Beach?

To be honest I just love Sorrento and the Mornington Peninsula which feel like a holiday location every time I'm there. It features most of the things I love: beach, bush, golf, wineries and food.

How did you get into your profession?

I was lucky to catch a break in television in 2006 on Channel 9 which got my hosting passion started. I became a marriage celebrant when I realised I loved telling stories and could combine that with helping people celebrate their biggest day. And I was very lucky to know Marty Fox who started WHITEFOX and he asked me to join his business and help grow it from a media and marketing perspective.

What’s the most important thing about your profession?

When it comes to being a marriage celebrant you have to be able to capture the essence of the relationship you are celebrating. Every couple who chooses to marry, is different and has a beautiful and unique story to tell. It's my responsibility to get it out of them and turn it into a captivating ceremony. Something you need to do with heart, honesty and authenticity. In terms of WHITEFOX, it's about staying true to who we are as a brand and the importance of having the most dynamic marketing in the game.

If you weren’t doing what you do, what would you be doing?

I'd probably be a Wiggle. Those who know me know I'm not the most serious of people at the best of times.

What do you do in your down time?

Well....I should say be around my family. But I have to say golf. My one true love (outside my family)

What advice would you give your younger self?

Enjoy that sleep pal. That's the most you'll ever get!
